FUN IS A HUMAN RIGHT

Social programs for young people with disability to build real friendships, confidence and community.

Flying Fox is for:

  • Young people with disability who want to build meaningful friendships through camps and community activities

  • Young people who want to enjoy fun, social experiences in carefully curated peer groups

  • Those looking to feel connected through ongoing opportunities and a supportive community

  • Families seeking a place where their child belongs, feels connected and is safe and supported

Why Choose Flying Fox

“Getting to know you” isn’t a checkbox for us. We take the time to understand each participant as a whole person - not just medical needs or dietary requirements.

We organise phone calls, video calls, visits to the Flying Fox Hub and even home visits to understand routines in real life, allowing us to thoughtfully match each participant with the right program and the right buddies.

2:1 Peer Support

On every camp, we commit to a 2:1 support ratio - two trained young adults to every participant. Our buddies bring energy, fun and compassion to every moment. This isn’t an add-on. It’s core to how we ensure safety, connection and confidence.

Professional Medical Support

We integrate professional health-focused support into our camps. Our medics are trained to navigate complex needs with dignity and competence. Healthcare support isn’t an optional extra here; it’s a trusted part of our framework.

Active Overnight Support

Support isn’t limited to daytime activities. Our teams are with participants around the clock, providing continuity of care and peace of mind for families. Wherever required, a team member is able to be present 24 hours a day.

NDIS Registered Provider

We support families with NDIS planning, support letters, and coordination with other providers. Flying Fox programs can be invoiced under Core or Capacity Building Supports. We also work with families, Support Coordinators, and Plan Managers to ensure invoicing aligns appropriately.

No One Is “Too Complex”

We welcome participants of all support needs. Where other organisation may see barriers, we see opportunity. We exist to support people of all abilities, and no one is ever ‘too difficult’ to support. We see opportunity for growth, connection and genuine belonging.

Empowering Through Fun

We create exciting and empowering experiences where participants feel supported to try new things and be themselves. Our programs are designed to build confidence, connection, and independence in a positive and inclusive environment.

”We were so glad that we learned to ‘let go’ to enrich our son’s life experiences. It was the very first camp experience for our 10 year old boy. It was unthinkable for us before this camp, as there were so many concerns and doubts. From the first contact with Flying Fox until the day we picked him up from camp, the love and care from all the volunteers was amazing! They are so responsible and passionate about what they do. It is a huge milestone not only for our son, but for all of us as a family too.”

Your Support People

We recruit and train young adult leaders to create safe, fun, and empowering experiences on every program. Our volunteers (also known as Flying Fox “buddies”) undergo extensive disability and inclusion training.

The outcome is clear: a shift in attitude across an entire generation of young people, who now have the tools and confidence to build a more inclusive world.
