Every moment is designed for
connection, confidence & community.

A group of young people outdoors, some smiling and raising their hands, dressed in casual and athletic clothing, enjoying a sunny day, likely during a social or recreational event.
Three young women are outdoors on a grassy area near a sidewalk, engaging with a girl in a wheelchair. The girl is smiling and wearing pink headphones, a pink jacket, and white pants, holding a teddy bear. The women are cheerful, one kneeling and the others squatting, interacting with her.
A boy dressed as Spider-Man, holding a paddle tennis racket, giving high fives to two adults kneeling on the grass in a park: a woman holding a basketball, and a man in shorts.

Programs

Who is Flying Fox for?

Flying Fox exists to provide opportunities for young people to have fun and make friends, to take risks and try new things, to go on adventures, and to experience all that life has to offer.

  • Love the idea of fun and new friends?

If you love the idea of having fun and making some new friends, even if you don't get to experience it all too often right now, please reach out.

  • Nervous about trying new things?

If you are nervous about the idea of trying new things and being away from home, we promise that we can provide a safe space for you.

  • Just looking for a safe space to get away?

If you are just looking for a safe space to get away for a few days, we're here for that too.

We know that a successful time away from home is different for everyone, and we celebrate that for some people even just being on camp is a big win.

Supports built around you

On our camps, as well as throughout our regular social activities each week, we design supports around each participant. The way we support shifts to match what each person actually needs. This is all designed in consultation with our participants and their families or support people.

Who comes on Flying Fox programs?

There are many people who come on Flying Fox programs, including:

  • Autistic young people across all support levels

  • Young people with intellectual disability

  • Young people with ADHD

  • Young people with physical disability

  • Young people with complex support needs

Across these different groups of young people, there is diversity and commonality. Some of our participants see Flying Fox as a space to relax with friends away from home, others see it as their space to take risks and try new things. Either way, personalities always shine through and we always see the very best of every individual when they are away on camp with us.

Buddy Ratio on Camp

Two trained buddies for every participant

On camp, every participant is paired with two trained buddies. That 2:1 ratio is what makes it possible to run inclusive, high-energy programs for young people with a wide range of support needs. Hangouts run with slightly less support, which fits the more casual, drop-in feel of weekly events.

Wondering if Flying Fox is the right fit?

The easiest way to find out is to submit an EOI. Our Participant team will be in touch to chat through what you're looking for and work out together whether our programs are a good match!
