The HATS program is a professional development opportunity targeted at medicine, nursing and paramedic students to be trained on the intersection of disability and first aid who then volunteer as medics on programs. These skills ensure that every person on every Flying Fox program feels happy, safe and healthy.
What's involved?
4 day intensive training course offering the following:
- Introduction to Flying Fox (including disability education)
- Epilepsy Management
- Diabetes Management
- Medication Administration
- First Aid
The intake periods for HATS are June and December each year.
The HATS program provides essential medical expertise and insights into the unique challenges and strengths of Flying Fox Campers.
Post the training days, the HATS participants will have the opportunity to volunteer over 8 days on multiple programs throughout the semester and beyond.
