Disability Education Facilitator (DEF)
Casual Contract
Are you passionate about leading educational sessions that foster understanding and awareness of disability among students? If so, we want you at Flying Fox! As a DEF, you will be responsible for facilitating engaging and impactful sessions on disability to change perspectives, enhance understanding, and provide students with valuable, applicable skills.
Position Details
- Facilitate informal disability education sessions for school students.
- Work in partnership with schools to deliver educational sessions, some of which may include immersive experiences requiring DEF involvement.
- Assist in training volunteers recruited by Flying Fox to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to support individuals with disabilities effectively.
What We Are Looking For
- Experienced Facilitator: Proven background in leadership and educational facilitation.
- Adaptable Thinker: Able to adjust teaching methods to suit diverse learning environments.
- Engaging Speaker: Capable of capturing and maintaining the attention of students.
- Classroom Management: Skilled in managing and engaging a class of up to 30 students, even under pressure.
- Passionate Advocate: Deep commitment to disability awareness and education.
Health Professional
Part-Time ongoing (1 x day per week)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse, Doctor, or Paramedic to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our participants & buddies, as well as providing support and training to our medical team.
Position Details
Conduct regular medication reviews for participants to ensure appropriate administration.
Liaising with Families:
Communicate with families to gather medical histories, discuss health concerns, and provide updates on their child’s health and well-being during programs.
Medical Training for Medics:
Develop and deliver training programs for medics to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to our participants.
Recruiting Medics:
Assist in the recruitment process of medics, including outreach to universities, schools and other organisations as well as the interviewing process.
Head Medic on Camps:
Attend multiple camps per year as the head medic, overseeing the medical care of all campers, managing medical emergencies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Registered Nurse, Doctor, or Paramedic with a valid and current license.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
